Large Victorian English oak glazed door library bookcase with Thomas Chippendale carved panels.

A very good looking and well made piece, it is a Victorian example as mentioned circa 1860-1880, it has an English oak frame and the original water glass panels, water glass is called as such due to the method of manufacture, in the Georgian and Victorian era molten glass was poured thinly into water as water will always lay perfectly flat, the end result was a pane of glass that had slight ripples causing excellent refractions. The carving is Thomas Chippendale style, it follows throughout his Library furniture be it desks tables or bookcases, it’s a type of Egyptian revival keying.

Fantastic Edwardian mahogany corner cabinet in excellent condition. The cabinet separates into 2 sections which allows for easy transportation in and around your home. This free standing unit has a fabulous carved scrolled pediment with blind fret work frieze sitting above a single astragal 17 pane door. The fixed shelved interior is lined in a pale blue water silk fabric which shows a little age related distress however this can be easy fixed. The base has a small drawer in the centre and shaped shelves underneath with attractive carved columns to the front. It is well proportioned of solid construction with great rich colouring and amazing patina a stylish addition to any corner.

The piece is in very good condition with no breaks, crack, hairlines, or repairs. The piece is clean with the design being well preserved, crisp and beautiful. The piece has a minor blemishes here and there, which can be seen in the photos. The lid has a few scratches and some loss to the silver coloring of the surface but no dings that we could see. The only issue we truly see is a small chip or flea bite at the edge of the shoulder, which can be seen in the fourth photo. However, this is truly minor and the piece is very nice given its age and utilitarian purpose. A beautiful piece to add to your collection.

Antique quality Edwardian mahogany inlaid corner cabinet having a fine inlay decoration which makes this an altogether striking piece. It boasts a charming shaped inlaid gallery top with a pretty inlaid frieze. The astragal glazed door has the original brass handle. It stands on three elegant square tapering legs united by a shaped under-tier which gives the piece a very elegant look.

Eton College - River Thames - Large 20thc Landscape Oil Painting After Canaletto

Brief Description:

This is a large and impressive original mid-20th Century Oil on Board Landscape Painting depicting Eton College from the River Thames, Berkshire.

Painted during the 1950s after an 18th Century work by the famous Italian artist Canaletto (1697-1768).

Description of the original work reads:

The view is from the bank of the River Thames, looking across a sprawling meadow towards Eton College on the horizon. A shady glade gives way to a softly lit landscape, with folk enjoying the summer’s day – a family group is picnicking while other people fish and boat nearby. A finely painted tree frames and leads the eye towards the middle distance, as do the layers of landscape and river bathed in subtle variations of light and shadow.

There are a number of inaccuracies in the depiction of the chapel, college buildings and surrounding houses, which suggests the artist had little knowledge of the view and perhaps relied on a sketch made on the spot at an earlier date. Originally painted in around 1754, this is one of the last pictures Canaletto made during his nine-year stay in England; by 1755 he had returned home to Venice.

Fabulous continental walnut secretary baroque or roll top bureau in excellent antique condition. The cylinder top opening to a pull out leather writing surface an assortment of pigeon holes, drawers with a small cupboard in the centre with a miniature roll top. This sits on an arrangement of 3 small drawers and 2 long drawers with attractive brass handles. All the drawers are oak lined and run smooth. Like all antique furniture there are imperfections however this is a solid piece that is not only functional but also serve as stunning examples of 19th century craftsmanship. 'Les Fleurs' Art Nouveau period antique glass lamp by Gallé

This superb Art Nouveau period lamp by Émile Gallé is crafted from overlaid, acid-etched, and wheel-carved glass. The lamp features a beige ground overlaid with pink-brown etched and carved decoration of floral sprays and other foliate motifs. The lamp has a domed shade supported by three brass brackets, above of an elegantly curved glass stem. The work is a remarkable demonstration of the Art Nouveau style with its penchant for floral motifs, and a tour de force of glassmaking, demonstrating a host of decorating techniques.

The shade and the base are signed ‘Gallé’.

Émile Gallé (4 May 1846 in Nancy – 23 September 1904 in Nancy) was a French artist and designer who worked in glass, and is considered to be one of the major innovators in the French Art Nouveau movement. He was noted for his designs of Art Nouveau glass art and Art Nouveau furniture, and was a founder of the École de Nancy or Nancy School, a movement of design in the city of Nancy, France.

Antique French Porcelain Mounted Side Occasional Work Table 19th Century

This is a beautiful antique French Louis XV Revival hardwood, Sevres style porcelain and ormolu mounted occasional / work table, circa 1860 in date.

The table is of serpentine outline, with a quarter-veneered and crossbanded hinged top, banded in ormolu, and opening to a purple silk-lined interior. The front and sides are mounted with Sevres style oval porcelain plaques and the table is raised on tall cabriole legs united by an undertier and ending in ormolu sabots.

Completed with working lock and key.
