Liberty Bell 7 spacecraft

 This is a piece of the Liberty Bell 7 spacecraft, which landed in Earth’s atmosphere in 1961. It took nearly 35 years to recover this spacecraft 16,000 feet below the tides, but fortunately, the astronaut that was in the craft was discovered almost immediately after landing.

Valentina Tereshkova

 Russia’s own Amelia Earhart, Valentina Tereshkova. She was the first woman in space and this portrait of her is from 1963. The photo shows a woman who is brave, beautiful, confident, and brilliant. A true inspiration for women.

THE BLUE MARBLE

THE BLUE MARBLE — On December 7, 1972, the astronauts of Apollo 17 snapped one of the most important pictures in history, the so-called “Blue Marble” image of Earth, captured from a distance of about 45,000 kilometers (28,000 miles) as they raced toward the Moon. To this day, no one is sure who actually took the photo. Spacemen Gene Cernan, Ron Evans, and Jack Schmitt have all claimed credit for it.
