Renaissance Revival, the most ubiquitous furniture style following the Civil War, drew inspiration from the Renaissance of the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries as well as the classical world. Nineteenth-century archaeological discoveries in Greece, Italy, and Egypt prompted designers to adapt and reinterpret designs and motifs from the past. Renaissance Revival’s rather masculine characteristics and grand scale make it easy to identify. Decorative elements took precedence over functionality. Mythical creatures, garlands, foliage, wild game, classical busts, scrolls, tassels, and portrait medallions appeared in high-relief carving. The incorporation of columns, pediments, and pilasters enhanced pieces. Gilded incising, marquetry, burled panels, wood veneering, ebonized wood, and marble tops commonly embellished pieces. Furniture was typically made with dark woods, such as walnut and rosewood.

Antique Victorian Parlor Brass Gone With The Wind Hubbard & Bradley Floral Lamp

Step back in time with this enchanting electrified Victorian lamp, a treasure from the transition of gas to electric lighting. Celebrating the craftsmanship of the esteemed Bradley and Hubbard Manufacturing Company, this piece reflects the opulent tastes circa 1890-1910.
The lamp boasts a delicate pink glass globe, resplendent with hand-painted floral arrangements, each petal and leaf meticulously rendered to create a bouquet that never wilts. The globe's soft hues cast a warm, inviting glow, turning any room into a cozy haven.
At its foundation, the lamp features an onyx base, a prized material of the era, known for its solidity and luxurious appeal. The lamp's structure is further enhanced by a wealth of ornate brass details—scrolls, flourishes, and classical motifs—all typical of the Victorian pursuit of beauty and elegance.

Originally, these lamps were designed to burn oil. They had a central burning wick, with the oil reservoir housed below the globe. The beautiful hand-painted globes served not only as a light diffuser but also as a decorative piece, showcasing the Victorian era's love for ornamentation and artistry in everyday objects. They were typically used in parlors and were a sign of status and elegance. This lamp once belonged to a sprawling Victorian estate built in 1875 and was purchased at an antique auction house in Norfolk, VA.

Rare Victorian Style 4 Font Kerosene Brass Parlor Floor Lamp (Electrified)

This is a hard to find Victorian style brass floor/parlor/piano/organ lamp with 3 conforming oil lamps on three arms having etched spherical glass shades rising on a tubular standard terminating on a tripod base ending on pad feet. In the center of the three fonts there is a 4th font with a larger glass shade on top of a brass globe. It has been electrified for use. There is a pull switch at the brass globe. In addition there is a inline switch on the cord. The lamp is about 78" high (up to the center glass chimney) and about 28" in diameter. I could not find this particular lamp anywhere online so far. I used to have a 3 font lamp before, which appears in google online searches.
