Empire 1895 Antique Chaise, Recamier, Lounge or Sofa, Carved Paw Feet

An Empire 1895 era recamier, lounge or sofa was hand carved of solid mahogany. The finish and upholstery are about 40 years old. The satiny finish is in extremely fine condition.

Classical motifs include lion paw feet, cornucopia or horns of plenty and acanthus leaves. Old faded velvet upholstery is faded and worn, the bolster pillow is removable.

Wheels are porcelain on this American made antique furniture. The back side is finished, there are later carved supports, see photos. Reglued to serve another generation, the frame is strong and tight.

Size is 67" long, 22" deep and 32" tall. The seat is 20" tall and 18" deep.

Federal sofa. Made of Solid mahogany, the sofa features claw feet with leaf filled cornucopias. In wonderful age appropriate condition, there is some surface scratching as to be expected. I believe it has its original finish. The rich fabric is great, there is one light water mark in the very front of the seat. Please enlarge all photos to see what a beauty this is.
